The Kybalion - The Principle of Correspondence
As above, so below; as below, so above
What I hold true in my mind will be true in my reality.
If my mind dies, so will my body and vice-verse
There is a harmony, agreement and correspondence between the several planes of manifestation, life and being. This is true because everything is from the same source.
This principle lets us realize there are planes beyond our knowing and ties together all principles. It shows us how everything is connected from;
What I hold true in my mind will be true in my reality.
If my mind dies, so will my body and vice-verse
There is a harmony, agreement and correspondence between the several planes of manifestation, life and being. This is true because everything is from the same source.
This principle lets us realize there are planes beyond our knowing and ties together all principles. It shows us how everything is connected from;
- Mentalism - All are creations of THE ALL and have there existence solely within the infinite mind of THE ALL.
- Vibration- Nothing rests everything moves.
- Polarity- Everything is duel and yet the same thing to a different degree. egg. Cold is the opposite of hot but they are not two things, they are just different degrees of temperature.
- Rhythm- Flows between all connecting everything
- Causation- There is a cause for every effect and an effect for every cause hence "As above, so below; as below, so above"
- Gender- Everything has its masculine and feminine principles, gender manifests on all planes.
All these Principles create the principle of;
- Correspondence- There is always a correspondence between the laws and phenomena of the various planes of being and life.
There are three great classes of phenomena known as the three great planes though they are more of an arbitrary division for the sake of learning. There is no fine line between them, they intertwine and are but degrees on the scale of life as is stated in the law of polarity.
The three great planes are;
The Great Physical Plane.
The Great Mental Plain.
The Great Spiritual Plane.
These great planes should be regarded as three Great groups of degrees of life manifestation.
The definition of a plane in regards to what I speak of is the degree of vibration. The higher the degree of rate of vibration, the higher the plane and the higher the manifestation of life occupying that plane. Each plane has seven minor planes and each minor plane has seven sub planes. Again this is an arbitrary division for the convenience of study.
The Great Physical plane and its seven minor planes regards all forms of matter and energy. Matter is not a "thing in it self." Matter is a form of energy, a form of energy at a low rate of vibration.
The seven minor physical planes are; - The plane of matter (A) -Matter in forms of solids, liquids and gasses
- The plane of matter (B) -The fourth state of matter know as radiant matter or plasma.
- The plane of matter (C) -Comprises forms of the most subtle and tenuous matter which is so to speak a "mid-way form between ether and ponderable matter."
- The plane of ethereal substance -Which acts as a medium for the transmission of waves of energy such as light, heat and electricity.
- The plane of energy (A) -Ordinary energy known to science such as heat, light, magnetism, electricity, etc.
- The plane of energy (B) -Described as "Natures finer forces" not yet discovered by science
- The plane of energy (C) -May be considered "the Devine power." It is energy so highly organized that it bears characteristics of life it self yet cannot be recognized by the mind of man on an ordinary plane of development.

Sermon on the Mount- As a Man Thinketh
"Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; And it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your father which is in heaven." -MATHEW V
I interpret this as saying I must remove selfishness, pride, vanity, sensuality, self righteousness, jealousy, self pity, resentment, condemnation and so on. All these things seem to have merit in the moment, but then loose there "SAVOUR." For they had no true merit in the first place. I must not give into them, refuse them expression. If I extend the right thought loyally to every person or thing especially to the people or things I dislike, I am worthy to be called the salt of the Earth. I will always have difficulties and troubles through out my life and if I demonstrate this lack of attention to the negative and focus on the true path, not only will I triumph all obstacles, but I will be a healing and illumining influence on all around. The "Light of the World" It matters not what I say but what I do. I can never force spiritual truth, I can only teach by example and those who are ready to see the light, will see.

Sermon on the Mount-The Eight Beatitudes
Blessed are the Poor in Spirit: For theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.
To be "Poor in Spirit" means to have emptied yourself of all desire, to exercise personal self-will, and to have renounced all preconceived opinions in the wholehearted search for god. To be willing to set aside your present habits of though, your present views and prejudices...Everything that can stand in your way of finding GOD.
In the past I have put more time and attention to wealth and material things which was taking away praise from the LORD. Once I am free from these false idols and preconceived notions of how I would be viewed by peers and family, I will be ready, I will be set free to start again at the very beginning and learn a new life. this new life is the "Kingdom of Heaven"
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Although mourning and sorrow are not apparently good things and the will of GOD is that everyone should experience happiness and joyous success, the fact of the matter is that mourning and suffering can be extremely useful because most people do not bother to learn the truth or become willing to change until something bad happens. More times than not, it is only when people experience physical or financial problems that they seek spiritual understanding. That is not to say that one cannot turn to GOD and acquire something of this understanding before they experience physical and financial problems. Either way once we turn to god we shall be comforted and trouble need never come.
Blessed are the Meek: For they shall inherit the earth.
This Beatitude is one of the most important verses in the Bible. to possess the spiritual meaning is to have the secret of dominion. It is the key of life. If you were to paraphrase the Jesus message into one sentence, this would be it. Let us first define the word meek. "The true significance of the word meek in the Bible is a mental attitude for which there is no other single word available, and it is the mental attitude which is the secret of prosperity or success in prayer. It is a combination of open-mindedness, faith in god and the realization that the will of GOD for us is always something joyous and interesting and vital, and much better than anything we could think of for our selves." The word earth in the Bible means manifestation. Manifestation or expression is the result of cause. A cause has to be expressed or manifested before we can know anything about it and likewise every expression and manifestation has to have a cause. ALL CAUSATION IS MENTAL meaning it is created in our minds. To reiterate, Earth means the whole of your outer experience and to inherit the Earth means to have Dominion over the outer experience. Hence the Spiritual key is to have Dominion over your perception
Blessed are they which hunger and thirst after righteousness: For they shall be filled.
The definition of righteousness as used in the Bible is not limited to right conduct, but right thinking on all subjects in every department of life. "As within, so without." Our internal thoughts become external. We cannot think one thing and produce another. We cannot affect externals without changing our thought. One cannot dwell on the past but live in the here and now. one must release all self-righteousness, jealousy, sentimental regrets, any wrong conduct that is being pursued. Hold no grudges and forgive all. Have no purposeless yearnings for the impossible. Have no remorse for past mistakes for GOD has forgiven us and to do so is treason to the love and the forgiveness of GOD. This is not something that can be done all at once. The beatitude says to hunger and thirst after...To thrive for. Progress may be slow just don't give up. learn to have prosperity in prayer. One cannot pray for material things and instant happiness or to get you out of a bind...It just doesn't work that way. Pray for serenity and acceptance, courage and wisdom and if one truly hungers and thirsts for righteousness our prosperity may constantly increase and at last we will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful: For they shall obtain mercy.
To truly be merciful, it must apply to the realm of thought as well external action. Merciful actions shadowed by unmerciful thoughts are hypocrisy dictated by fear or desire for self glory or some other such motive. This False Mercy helps not the giver or recipient while even the mere internal thought of true mercy toward fellowman blesses all spiritually, mentally and materially. Once one understands the power of the spiritual idea, it is their responsibility to show mercy and to help the other with the right thought to make it easier for them to get free. They are calling out for help not personally attacking anyone but them selves, so be merciful. for in deed and in truth we are all one, all a part of GOD and will ultimately receive the same merciful help that was given to others when needed. By freeing others of the weight of their condemnation...You make it possible to absolve yourself from self-condemnation.
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see GOD.
In this Beatitude, we must broaden our definition of the words. Pure or purity in the Bible means much more than its physical sense. It is recognising GOD alone as the one real cause and the only real power in existence. It is the single eye, the master key to life. Nothing that man has created even compares for it exists only in this reality. The word heart in the Bible refers to that part of mans mentality known as the subconscious mind. One must accept truth with not only his conscious mind but his subconscious mind or heart as well. If a pure heart is achieved, this Beatitude promises we shall see GOD. GOD has no real form and can not be "seen" in the physical sense. "to see" in this sense refers to spiritual perception. Heaven is not some far off distant place above the clouds...It is all around us. With out spiritual perception or a Pure Heart, We can not see that heaven is all around us just as a blind person could not see the sun rise.
Blessed are the peacemakers: For they shall be called the children of GOD.
The word Peace refers to having serenity one can achieve serenity through prayer. Prayer is the only real action in the full sense of the word "action" for it transcends time and space and does not only exist in this reality we have created called Earth. Prayer is the only thing that can change ones character. A change in character or a change in soul is the only real change and when it takes place the rest of your existence will be different from how you previously acted. You are a new person or born again. A peacemaker is one who brings about this true peace. To be a child of GOD is to be connected, born anew, having prosperity in prayer.
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner if evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Rejoice and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
I interpret this as meaning self prosecution. for it matters not what others think of us. If I allow my self to be persecuted by another it is only because it strikes something within my own mentality that needs cleaning up. It is common and quite healthy to "question" our righteousness. to slip into "our lower selves" so that we can learn and grow. but one must battle these feelings and not dwell. One must remember that there is no spiritual superiority we are all the same. There is no virtue in martyrdom.

Kybalion, The principle of Mentalism
"The All is Mind; The Universe is Mental"
- The Kybalion
All is in "THE ALL" and "THE ALL" is in All.
The Hermetic Principle of Mentalism is about consciousness, stating that "THE ALL IS MIND" putting consciousness over both matter and energy. The Principle of Mentalism implies a concept of natural, universal consciousness as the source and the essence of all being, as the creator and the creation, it is through consciousness that we, and all the beings in the universe, begin to exist as conscious ideas before we become physical realities.
The All, which is the Substantial Reality underlying all the outward manifestations and appearances which we know under the terms of The Material Universe; the Phenomena of Life, Matter, Energy, and, in short, all that is apparent to our material senses, is spirit which in itself is unknowable and undefinable, but which may be considered and thought of as an universal, infinite, living mind. It also explains that all the phenomenal world or universe is simply a Mental Creation of The All, subject to the Laws of Created Things, and that the universe, as a whole, and in its parts or units, has its existence in the Mind of The All, in which Mind we live and move and have our being. This Principle, by establishing the Mental Nature of the Universe, easily explains all of the varied mental and psychic phenomena that occupy such a large portion of the public attention, and which, without such explanation, are non-understandable and defy scientific treatment.
Does this Principle make me GOD? Yes and No...I am GOD and GOD is me as we are all GOD and God is all of us. A great example in the Kybalion is that of Shakespeare. Hamlet existed exclusively in the mind of Shakespeare at the time of creation. And Shakespeare existed within the character of Hamlet giving him vitality, spirit and action. Does this mean that Shakespeare is the spirit of Hamlet or has bringing Hamlet to life through though let the character personify its own spirit. "The Law of Paradox explains that both are true viewed from proper viewpoints." Hence the term Half truth.
"The spirit of my creator is inherent in me -and yet I am not HE"
My brain hurts now. I will finish my notes on Mentalism later.
I had some help from http://www.corax.com/tarot/index.html?first-hermetic-principle
Spiritual Development means to realize the existence of the indwelling spirit immanent within. The degree one realizes this is how high one will rise on the spiritual scale of life.
The Process of the mental creation according to the Kybalion is a cycle. There are many planes of being-many sub-planes and many degrees of existence, the highest being separated only by the thinnest division from the SPIRIT of THE ALL, and, upward and onward along the scale of life. Everything is moving. All are on one path whose end is the ALL. THE ALL in its aspect of being, projects its will toward its aspect of becoming and the process of creation begins. At this point the stage of Involution is reached meaning the creator becomes involved or wrapped up in its creation, by doing so a low degree of vibratory energy is reached manifesting the grossest possible form of matter. In other words while creating, the creator forgets all else around him including its own existence focusing only on the creation at hand. The involuntary stage of creation is also known as Outpouring of Devine energy and the Evolutionary state is called Indrawing. So in this cycle Involution or Outpouring is the furthest removed from THE ALL while Evolution or Indrawing is the return trip or "coming home" to THE ALL. Also known as the LAW OF RHYTHM.
During the Evolutionary or Outpouring stage, the law of Individualization is manifested, meaning un-individualized energy which left THE ALL separating into units of force returns to its source as highly developed units of life, having risen higher in the scale by means of physical, mental and spiritual evolution.
Hermetists use the word mediation and contemplation to describe the process of the mental creation, also defined as Devine Attention or a mental reaching out extension of mental energy.
So the process of Evolution is that THE ALL, having meditated upon the beginning of the creation-having established the material foundation of the Universe-having though it into Existence- then gradually awakens from its meditation and starts manifesting the process of Evolution and the UPWARD movement begins, Mater becomes less gross, Units spring into being and the combination begins to form The creation manifests in higher forms and the Mind becomes more evident. Vibrations raise and all process according to the Indrawing process. There is much speculation as to WHY? Why does the creator create? Yet I am not concerned. My answer is Why not? Or Because the Creator can!
Because THE ALL is inherent in us all, we too create in the outer world in the same process described, why do we do it, we create music and art and everything in society. In my mind, this is proof of our connection to THE ALL "GOD gave us the gift of creativity, our gift to god is to use that creativity"

The Sermon on the Mount
Emmet Fox (1886-1951)
I particularly like the teaching style of Emmett Fox. Myself, not belonging to any secular denomination, I was instantly intrigued and motivated to examine myself. I was contempt prior to investigation regarding my spirituality. I learned that it makes no difference how I regard Jesus Christ. Whether I consider him the son of god or just a delusional fanatic the fact will remain that the life and death of Jesus Christ has influenced the course of human history.
The objective of "The Sermon on the Mount" by Emmett Fox is to be a practical manual of spiritual development to be used through out your life.
I learned first off to realize religion and spirituality have nothing to do with the church or any organized sect.
My goal is to understand and put into practice the Spiritual Key. The Spiritual key is that I have dominion over my perception. What does that mean?
"And the truth turns out to be nothing less than the amazing but undeniable fact that the whole outer world-whether it be the physical body, the common things of life, the winds and the rain, the clouds, the Earth it self-Is amenable to man's thought, and that he has dominion over it when he knows it. The outer world, far from being the prison of circumstances that it is commonly supposed to be, has actually no character what so ever of its own, either good or bad. It has only the character we give to it by our own thinking. It is naturally plastic to our thought, and this is so, whether we know it or not, and whether we wish it or not."
-Emmett Fox
Although I believe this excerpt fully is self explanatory of what the outer world is I will reiterate it in my words of being everything external...Our reality.
Not long ago, I had the job of holding a sign in front of Circuit City saying "going out of business" I made 35 dollars for five hours. the first day I was embarrassed and felt degraded and thought that I was too good to be doing something like this. I had negative thoughts and in return I had a miserable five hours. The next day I thought to my self they are actually paying me to get a sun tan catch up on some reading and listen to music. I had positive thoughts and in return I had a great day. Both days were virtually the same day only my mental attitude made them completely opposite. I'm 37 years old and I finally understand the little engine that could...better late than never.
Knowing the Spiritual key is just half the battle, to fully understand and have dominion over your perception you must incorporate the eight Beatitudes into your life. It is not enough to know the eight beatitudes...you have to live them!
THE EIGHT BEATITUDES OF JESUS
"Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they who mourn,
for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they shall be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure of heart,
for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called children of God.
Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
Keep in mind the the Bible is a Textbook of metaphysics, a manual for the growth of the soul, and it looks at all questions from this point of view.
Also keep in mind that the dialect used when the bible was written is quite differint than in modern days and must be translated accordingly.

The Fourth Way
Self Remembeing- We forget ourselves constently.
Internal considering- Allowing judgements, demands, expectations and conflict of others to effect and influence the way we feel and act and our state of mind.
external considering - Giving due to other individuals.
Acquired self = false personality
A person in normal consciousness is not truly awake...We are in one of several conscious states;Imagination (Day Dreaming)Identification (Distracted/Fixated)Considering (worried about what others are thinking)Formatory (Mechanical)
These states actually cause us to forget that we exist. We go into states of momentary consciousness when we actually examine our consciousness.
Our mind is divided into multiple entities acting independently. These entities are so well integrated, we rarely notice when control shifts.
The illusion of a single mind is further enhanced by the fact that all entities are in the same body and have the same name. Each one considers itself to be the "I". The "I's" are most noticable when they are in conflict with one another, when we have mixed fealings. We are a number of consiquences of multiple "I's".
Generally there is only one "I" in the driver seat at a time. We become one "I" after another sometimes shifting very rapidly. The constant shifting makes consintration impossible, preventing us from reaching our potential. A major goal in the fourth way is to achieve a perminent "I", Unchanging control over attention. Multiple "I's" make us inconsistant. One "I" makes a resolution and another "I" it or never even hears it.
Lesson one-
Create small aims (goals)
Try to ask your self before every action and/or thought, will this bring me closer or further from my aim.
